Ըստ ռուսական «Կոմերսանտ»-ի՝ կառուցվելու է Շարուր (Նախիջևան)-Իգդիր (Թուրքիա) նոր երկաթուղու հատված։
Այսինքն Թուրքիա-Ադրբեջան կապն իրականացվելու է, չօգտագործելով Գյումրի (Հայաստան)-Կարս (Թուրքիա) արդեն իսկ առկա երկաթուղին, որը միացած է նաև Նախիջևանին։
Նպատակներն, ըստ իս, երկուսն են և միմյանց հետ փոխշաղկապված՝ 1․ Թուրքիա-Նախիջևան ուղիղ երկաթուղային հաղորդակցության ստեղծումը՝ շրջանցելով Հայաստանը, 2․ Թուրքիա-Ադրբեջան «միջանցքի» վրա Հայաստանի ազդեցությունը հնարավոր նվազագույնին հասցնելը։
