«Պատերազմի օրերի, երբ իմացանք, որ Հովհաննեսին տեղափոխել են Շուշի, բոլորով այնքան էինք ուախացել, ասում էինք՝ Շուշին անառիկ ամրոցա է, իր դիրքով էնպիսի տեղում է, որ անվնաս կլինեն, բայց ամսի 5-ին իմացա, որ մարտեր են այնտեղ եղել։
Զանգեցի Հովհաննեսին, հաղթական ձայնով գոռում էր՝ չենք տա Շուշին մենք ուրիշին»,- պատմում է զոհված զինծառայողի հորաքույրը՝ Վարդուհի Մարուքյանը:
Հովհաննես Մարուքյանը ծնվել է 2001 թվականի հուլիսի 29-ին, զոհվել է 2020 թվականի նոյեմբերի 7-ին
