UPay has joined Idram's Open QR infrastructure
At a press conference held on September 23, Idram announced the opening of its QR infrastructure. On the same day, it was revealed that Upay has joined the Open QR system. Now, Upay users can scan and pay using the Idram QR code available at more than 22,500 points of sale through their applications.
Arsen Kdenyan, CEO of Idram, opened the press conference by welcoming the partners who have already joined the infrastructure. He shared that negotiations are ongoing with other financial system representatives, who will soon have the opportunity to join Idram's open QR. "This initiative benefits financial organizations by providing their users and customers with an alternative payment option at over 22,500 points of sale. Furthermore, users of these organizations can make contactless QR payments without needing to download additional applications," noted Arsen Kdenyan.
"We are pleased to join this initiative from Idram, considering our strategy focused on continuously enhancing the user experience with the Upay e-wallet. Fast and contactless payments have become a necessity today, and by participating in this project, we take another step towards providing our clients with convenient and accessible payment solutions. I believe that collaboration within the Open QR infrastructure will help create a new payment ecosystem in Armenia," noted Hasmik Gevorgyan, Director of Upay. ("Upay" company was founded by Ucom)
Albert Tunyan, Head of Idram's Key Account and Digital Payments Projects Unit, explained that, from a technical perspective, the process of joining Idram's open QR system is straightforward. It is facilitated through the use of modern and standardized APIs. "By infrastructure, we refer not only to the technical solution that enables users of other banks or payment organizations to scan Idram's QR codes using their applications. It also includes establishing partnerships, resolving technical issues, and creating customer support mechanisms," said Albert Tunyan.
Evocabank, Fast Shift, Upay, and Easy Pay have officially joined Idram's open QR infrastructure. Cooperation agreements were signed with these companies, marking their integration into the open QR system. Additionally, Idram has notified banks and settlement organizations operating in Armenia that they are open to further collaborations.
