Ucom and SunChild NGO Install Solar Plant in Malishka Community

With Ucom's support, SunChild NGO has installed a solar plant with a capacity of 10.44 kWh at Kindergarten No. 2 in the Malishka village of Yeghegnadzor community in Vayots Dzor marz.

The location of the kindergarten building, which was completely renovated in 2013, allows the maximum efficiency of the solar plant. The installed station will provide an opportunity to cover the entire cost of heating the kindergarten, as well as other electricity costs.

Currently, over 50 children attend the kindergarten, but plans are underway to open enrollment for children aged 2 to 3, increasing attendance to over 80 children.

"We all understand the importance of education, and we aim to create the best conditions for our children to learn and develop. I am delighted that thanks to Ucom's care and commitment to green technology, children in the marzes can begin their educational journey in warm and comfortable rooms," said Ralph Yirikian, the General Director of Ucom.

"After each new project, I am even more convinced of the ongoing positive impact our cooperation with Ucom has on target communities. Using simple, locally sourced solutions, we help communities become more resilient, and in this case, also contribute to a safe environment for children," said Sona Kalantaryan, Director of SunChild NGO.

"The solar panel installed thanks to Ucom and SunChild NGO is an important investment for the community. It will reduce annual electricity costs by 2 mln drams, allowing these funds to be redirected towards the kindergarten’s welfare and development. We express our deep gratitude to Ucom and the SunChild NGO for caring for our rural communities and our children," said Garik Nazaryan, head of the Malishka administrative district.

Until now, it was difficult to use the gym and other parts of the building during winter due to a lack of heating. The kindergarten was previously heated with a combination of gas and electricity, with an annual cost exceeding AMD 2,000,000. The solar plant will now allow the entire building to be used year-round, reducing costs significantly and providing a comfortable, warm environment for the children.
