Digital identity, digital authentication, and secure transactions: the imID office is officially opened

Digital identity and authentication, secure and efficient digital transactions in the modern technological world – both in the private and public sectors: imID sets a new benchmark for digital identity in Armenia.

On April 15, the official opening of the imID office – a trust service provider – took place along with the presentation of the project. The event was attended by representatives of the RA Government, state and international institutions, and partner organizations.

In the era of technological progress, digital transformation has become a top priority, and Armenia is no exception. With a national digitalization strategy, Armenia is also promoting personal data protection and enabling fast and reliable processes in the digital domain, supported by trust service providers.

With this vision and the goal of creating an effective digital identity tool, in 2024, 10 Armenian banks and 3 telecommunications companies joined forces to establish imID. IDBank is also a member of imID’s Founding Board.

According to Mher Abrahamyan, Chairman of the Management Board of IDBank, imID will allow Armenian citizens to access high-quality, secure, and affordable services in the modern digital world. "From a business perspective, imID also plays an important role: it will contribute to the fast and secure implementation of business relationships, reducing business costs and increasing efficiency," said Mher Abrahamyan.

Sergey Arakelyan, Director of Digital Banking at IDBank and member of the Board of Trustees of imID, noted that the trend of digitalization is global. “We expect Armenia to stay on track with the development of the digital economy, leveraging the technological opportunities that imID is planning to introduce in the near future,” said Sergey Arakelyan.

imID was founded in 2024 by 10 banks and 3 telecom companies in Armenia. It offers secure and reliable electronic identity solutions for individuals, businesses, and government entities. The company enables users to register electronically, log in via imID, confirm transactions, and sign any digital document online – all without the need for physical presence.

All transactions, whether for identity confirmation or document signing, are secured by robust encryption and operational protection mechanisms.

As a trust service provider, imID is shaping a new culture and standards for innovative and secure digital identity solutions.

imID’s mission is to equip people with a reliable and effective tool for digital identification, making their interaction with the digital world safer and smoother.

The company aims to become a reliable, innovative, and internationally compliant provider of digital authentication services – empowering every citizen and business to act confidently in the digital era.
