Developments in Hospitality: Aghvan Avagyan’s Role in Armenia’s Global Recognition
In a region historically underrepresented in the global luxury travel industry, one man has redefined the standards of excellence and global relevance. That man is Aghvan Avagyan, the visionary CEO behind Seven Visions Resort & Places, The Dvin — a majestic, multifaceted hospitality complex that has transformed Armenia’s capital into a world-class destination for diplomacy, culture, and high-end tourism.
From inception to global acclaim, Mr. Avagyan has personally led the development of The Dvin, envisioning a space that was not just luxurious, but iconic — a symbol of Armenian heritage expressed through contemporary elegance. Located in Yerevan, The Dvin is now the preferred venue for international events, hosting a multitude of state visits, forums, and elite celebrations that once seemed out of reach for the region.
Under Mr. Avagyan’s leadership, the resort has won 15 prestigious international awards in under two years — an unprecedented feat for an Armenian enterprise. These include “World’s Leading Hotel Dining & Entertainment Experience 2024”, “Europe’s Best MICE Hotel 2024”, and “Armenia’s Leading Hotel 2023 and 2024” — all awarded by the World Travel Awards, the most respected name in global hospitality rankings.
But it is not just titles that distinguish the Dvin. The resort is increasingly viewed as a cultural and diplomatic center, hosting landmark events such as the Francophonie Summit, attended by over 50 heads of state and government, as well as high-level diplomatic meetings like the Eurasian Economic Union Intergovernmental Council, the Collective Security Treaty Organization Summit, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Business Forum involving more than 70 countries.
The Dvin’s stages have also welcomed some of the highly populiar performers, from 50 Cent and Black Coffee to Gregory Leps, Leonid Agutin, Valeri Meladze, Loboda, and A’Studio. These performances, organized under the direction of Mr. Avagyan, mark the first time such globally acclaimed artists have performed in Armenia at a single private venue.
Yet perhaps the most striking aspect of Avagyan’s leadership is his belief that Armenia can — and should — play on the world stage. Through this belief, and through tireless negotiation, partnership-building, and excellence in execution, he has achieved what many considered impossible: making The Dvin not only a resort, but a national achievement.
