Final Results of the 20th Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad Announced

On November 18, the final results of the 20th Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad were announced at Engineering City in Yerevan. Marking its 20th anniversary, this year’s Olympiad brought together outstanding young specialists from around the world, who gathered to demonstrate their knowledge and compete for the top awards. Ucom once again acted as the event’s general supporter, contributing to the development of high-tech education, the formation of a young engineering community, and the growth of interest in the field of microelectronics.

During the first stage, held in 20 countries—including Armenia, the UAE, the USA, Brazil, Germany, Egypt, Ecuador, India, Israel, Italy, Iran, Poland, Lebanon, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Portugal, Peru, Russia, Vietnam, and France, 1,088 students participated. Of these, 34 participants advanced to the final stage, held on October 17 at the Synopsys Armenia Educational Department in Yerevan. Fourteen of the finalists represented Armenia.

The first prize was awarded to Ali Razmezani from the United Arab Emirates by Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan. The second prize, on behalf of Ucom’s General Director Ralph Yirikian, was awarded to Haykush Petrosyan from Armenia, and another second prize was presented to Mohammad Hasan Amoli from Iran by Digitain’s Deputy Director, Martin Martirosyan. The two third prizes were awarded by the Chairman of the Olympiad Organizing Committee, President of UEICT, and Director of Unicomp, Armen Baldryan, to Rameshkumar Rajinthan from Sri Lanka and Yuri Tomaschuk from Russia. The “Best Result from Armenia” award, dedicated to the memory of Arman Tshagharyan, was presented by the Vice-Chairman of the Olympiad Organizing Committee and Director of Synopsys Armenia, Hovik Musayelyan, to Harutyun Karapetyan from Armenia.

“At Ucom, we believe that Armenia can be a center of technological advancement. This Olympiad proves that our country can bring together talents from across the globe and create an environment where young people can grow and compete at a global level. I am pleased to personally present an award to the winners, acknowledging their achievements and the important role they will play in shaping tomorrow’s technological landscape,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director at Ucom.

“For two decades, organizing the Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad in Armenia has demonstrated our country’s excellence in the field of microelectronics and our commitment to empowering the next generation of innovators. Each year, the arrival of first-stage winners from around the world to participate in the final phase and awards ceremony highlights Armenia’s prominent place on the global technological map,” noted the Vice-Chair of the Olympiad Organizing Committee and Director of Synopsys Armenia, Hovik Musayelyan.

“The Olympiad has become a respected and widely recognized event in many countries. Young specialists eagerly look forward to participating, and the preparation process itself significantly deepens their experience,” said Chair of the Olympiad Program Committee and Director of the Synopsys Armenia Educational Department, Professor Vazgen Melikyan.

Held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad was founded in 2006 upon the initiative of Synopsys and is organized by Synopsys Armenia in cooperation with the Test Technology Technical Council (IEEE  TTTC) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers — the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity.

The Olympiad serves as an international platform for specialists under the age of 30, aiming to stimulate interest in microelectronics, discover new talent, and foster a knowledge-based, collaborative global engineering community.
