The international chess tournament supported by IDBank has concluded
The Yerevan Spring ID Cup, organized with the support of IDBank, has successfully concluded. The tournament brought together 164 young chess players, whose exciting and hard-fought matches determined the winners and prize recipients. Alongside the main awards, the top participants also received special cash prizes from IDBank.
After a highly competitive series of matches, 13-year-old Davit Stepanyan, who claimed the championship title, shared that he was heading home not only with a gold medal, but also with a prize of AMD 130,000 and special gifts.
“The competition was very intense and exciting until the very end. I secured first place based on tie-break results, and there were many memorable games throughout the tournament,” said Davit Stepanyan.
Laima Galustyan, Project Manager of IDBank’s Social Responsibility Programs Group, noted:
“For IDBank, it is a great honor to support tournaments like this. We believe such initiatives contribute not only to the development of chess as a sport, but also to shaping strategic thinking, discipline, and the drive to succeed, especially among young people.”
According to Vardan Melkonyan, Director of the Arabkir Chess School, the tournament has already gained international recognition. This year, participants also arrived from Russia and Iran.
“The total number of participants in both the main tournament and blitz competition — 164 players — exceeded the figures of the previous two years. I am also very pleased that this tournament is becoming a tradition,” emphasized Vardan Melkonyan.
While the tournament has concluded, the journey of victories is only beginning. In addition to the top three winners, participants from various age groups also received special awards from IDBank.
Such tournaments create an excellent platform for new connections, valuable experience, and personal growth. IDBank remains committed to making a meaningful contribution to the continued development of Armenian chess.
