“From Classroom to Orbit”: With Ucom’s Support, “Space 1.0” Is Being Introduced in 15 Schools Across Armenia

Ucom and CIPR AeroSpace announce the launch of a new stage of cooperation aimed at developing space technologies and engineering education in Armenia. In 2026, the “Space 1.0” educational package is planned to be introduced in 15 schools across Armenia, including 7 schools in Yerevan and 8 schools in the regions of Armenia.

“Space 1.0” is a hands-on educational package that enables school students to explore the fundamentals of space technologies not only in theory, but also through a practical format. Through the package, students gain the opportunity to work with an educational satellite, a ground station and related equipment, developing analytical thinking, technical understanding and an engineering mindset.

“For Ucom, the development of technological education is of strategic importance. We value initiatives that provide students not only with knowledge, but also with real hands-on experience, helping them understand how modern technologies work. “Space 1.0” is exactly such a program: it makes space engineering more accessible, engaging and applicable for schools in Armenia,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.

The “Space 1.0” educational package provided to each school includes 1 educational satellite, 1 ground station, 1 parachute and 2 guidebooks. The program also provides for teacher involvement and the necessary methodological support, enabling schools to use the package in a long-term format as a practical component of STEM education.

“Our goal is to make space education accessible to Armenian schools, starting from the age when children’s interest in science and technology is just beginning to take shape. ‘Space 1.0’ is designed so that students not only hear about space and satellites, but also have the opportunity to experiment, measure, analyze and understand technological processes independently,” said Mary Hrachoohi Boghosian, Founder and Director of CIPR AeroSpace.

The cooperation is based on the idea of “From Classroom to Orbit”. It aims to bring the real-life application of space technologies into the school environment and promote the development of future engineers, researchers and innovators. Ucom places particular importance on the involvement of regional schools, ensuring that innovative educational opportunities are accessible not only in the capital, but also in different communities across Armenia. In 2025, the pilot version of the program was implemented in 4 schools in Yerevan and the regions.
