Awards Ceremony for the “Top 100 Students of Armenia” Competition: Presentation of Certificates

The long-awaited awards ceremony for the “Top 100 Students of Armenia” competition has finally taken place. Held on August 17, the eve of Samvel Karapetyan’s birthday, the event brought participants together in an intimate setting, with Samvel Karapetyan personally in attendance.

Samvel Karapetyan welcomed 100 high-achieving students selected from all regions of Armenia and Artsakh. During the official ceremony, he personally presented each participant with a certificate.

Each selected student received tuition reimbursement covering one full academic year. The initiative aims to encourage young people committed to education and personal development and to support them in continuing their studies.

In addition to GPA, the students’ motivation letters played a key role in the application review process. They provided a more comprehensive understanding of the applicants’ goals, attitudes toward education and plans for the future.

The program included students from every region of Armenia, as well as young people displaced from Artsakh who are currently studying in Armenia. It was open to students across all academic disciplines, with no restrictions based on field of study. The selected participants represented a diverse range of universities, majors and academic programs.

At the same time, Gohar Ghumashyan, Executive Director of the Foundation, emphasizes that the Foundation’s activities are non-political. In view of the restrictions that have entered into force in connection with local self-government elections, students selected from communities where election dates have already been announced did not attend today’s ceremony. Regrettably, the one-year tuition reimbursement allocated to them will not be provided at this stage.

In his address to the students, Samvel Karapetyan stated that initiatives of this kind would continue, with the aim of supporting young people throughout their educational journey and recognizing their achievements.

The date of the ceremony was chosen for its symbolic significance: August 18 is Samvel Karapetyan’s birthday. One year earlier, on that date, the first audience at the newly opened Tashir Arena comprised children from low-income and large families, families from Artsakh, as well as the children of heroes who gave their lives for their homeland and of servicemen affected by military hostilities. A charity concert titled “By Children, for Children” was organized for them.

This tradition continues this year, making August 18, for the second consecutive year, a day marked by educational and cultural initiatives dedicated to children and young people.
